HOBOKEN, N.J. — Stevens Institute of Technology is proud to join with educational institutions and others across the country as we observe International Education Week, November 15-19. Students, scholars, faculty and staff from nearly 100 countries are working, studying and conducting research at Stevens, and our institutional and personal links abroad have further expanded during the past year. We are now actively involved in cooperative programs in countries as diverse as China, the Dominican Republic, Ecuador, France, India, and the UK. Stevens’ students are also studying and working in a number of countries.
Understanding and appreciation of the cultural values of societies around the world, and their hopes and aspirations, have never been more critical components of peace and security than they are today. And the continued progress of science, indeed all academic fields, has never been more dependent on international sharing and cooperation. Our international students, faculty and researchers, as well as those participating in study abroad, collaborative research, and other activities overseas also underscore the need for mutual respect in our own community. I urge everyone to take advantage of the many opportunities that Stevens’ international connections and activities present to us throughout the year to enhance our experience of our increasingly global society. – HAROLD J. RAVECHE, President, Stevens Institute of Technology
