HOBOKEN, N.J. — Dr. George P. Korfiatis, Dean of the Charles V. Schaefer, Jr. School of Engineering at Stevens Institute of Technology, has announced that Dr. Michael Pennotti, Industry Professor in Systems Engineering and Engineering Management, has been appointed as the Director of the System Design and Operational Effectiveness (SDOE) Program in the Schaefer School.
This appointment became effective on September 1, 2004.
“This appointment marks a major milestone in the continuing evolution of the SDOE Program,” said Korfiatis, “which has helped systems engineering at Stevens earn recognition as one of the preeminent SE programs in the US, in independent government and industry assessments.”
As Director, Pennotti will oversee program operations, which have grown fourfold in the past two years. Dr. Dinesh Verma, founder and previous SDOE Program Director, will continue to guide the growth and progress of the SDOE Program in his role as Associate Dean for Outreach and Executive Education.
Pennotti joined Stevens in 2001 after more than 30 years of systems engineering practice and leadership at Bell Labs and executive positions in quality and human resource management at AT&T, Lucent and Avaya. In 2000, he was named the first VP Quality at Avaya. He holds a doctorate in Electrical Engineering from the Polytechnic Institute of New York, is a Senior Member of both IEEE and ASQ, and a graduate of the AeA/Stanford Executive Institute for the management of high-technology companies.
