Stevens' Management program wins Academic Leadership Award

HOBOKEN, N.J. - The Executive Masters of Technology Management (EMTM) Program in the Wesley J. Howe School of Technology Management at Stevens Institute of Technology has again won the Academic Leadership Award of the American Society of Engineering Management (ASEM).

The award and a plaque were presented to Dr. Donald N Merino, outgoing EMTM Program Director, and Dr. Murrae Bowden, newly appointed EMTM Program Director at the ASEM 24th annual meeting in St. Louis, Mo.

"We were judged to be best in the class of similar graduate programs on two major criteria - academic excellence and academic leadership," Merino said.

Stevens' EMTM program was the first graduate program to receive this prestigious award and is now the only program to receive it twice. The EMTM program won the award in 1999.

The EMTM Program was developed as part of the Stevens Alliance for Technology Management (SATM) educational activities. The SATM is an education-industry alliance of high-tech companies and government research labs in the New Jersey area.

"The EMTM program is very fortunate to have the SATM provide leadership for this program," Merino said. "The dedicated faculty and executives-in-residence who teach and mentor the students deserve the majority of the credit for this award."

SATM partners include AT&T, Lucent Technologies, Honeywell/Allied Signal, Telcordia, US Army, Picatinny Arsenal, Verizon and US Army Communication, Electronics, and Command (CECOM- Ft. Monmouth, N.J.)
