HOBOKEN, N.J. - Stevens Institute of Technology's online learning unit, WebCampus, continued its steady climb in enrollments in the first half of this academic year, surpassing 1,200 online students, including registration from the fall and part of the summer.
"WebCampus is well on its way to reaching its goal of 2,250 enrollments for the fiscal year," said Vice President Maureen Weatherall.
Since WebCampus was first launched four years ago, the online unit has recorded 2,800 enrollments. WebCampus now represents a significant portion of the school's graduate student population.
Paralleling Stevens' growth, a recent Alfred P. Sloan Foundation survey reported that some 11 percent of the nation's college and university students now take courses online.
