'State of the Beach' press conference, Spring Lake, NJ, May 20

How did New Jersey's beaches weather one of the worst winters in decades? What's in the forecast for coastal New Jersey? Will the summer of 2003 be a boom or a bust for beachgoers and coastal businesses?

You're invited to attend a pre-summer season press conference in Spring Lake, N.J., featuring the presentation of N.J: The State of the Beach Report-2003, compiled by Dr. Thomas Herrington, a professor at Stevens Institute of Technology and a Coastal Processes Specialist for the New Jersey Sea Grant Extension Program. The location will be the North Pavilion at Ocean and Ludlow Avenues in Spring Lake, N.J., May 20, 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. A continental brunch will be served, and a Q&A session will follow the presentations. Also speaking at the press conference will be the Hon. Thomas J. Byrne III, Mayor of Spring Lake; the Hon. Joseph Palaia, N.J. Senate, 11th District; Dr. Michael P. Weinstein, President, New Jersey Marine Sciences Consortium; Kim Bolton, Specialist, Domestic Travel Trade, New Jersey Office of Travel and Tourism; and Noreen Bodman of the Jersey Shore Partnership.

The press conference is sponsored by the New Jersey Marine Sciences Consortium in cooperation with Stevens Institute of Technology, the Borough of Spring Lake, the New Jersey Office of Travel and Tourism, and the Jersey Shore Partnership.
