Cyber Security - Guarding Your Computers in a Post 9-11 Reality

Protecting the ways we communicate from terrorist attack. Since 9/11, it's no longer an academic issue. Computer attacks will be faster and more damaging than ever - just as we come to rely on computers more and more. On the next edition of Technogenesis, AT&T vice president Dr. Ed Amoroso and Yalkin Demirkaya, head of the computer crimes investigation unit for one of the world's largest law enforcement organizations, join Stevens President Dr. Harold Raveche in a candid conversation about how to better thwart electronic terrorism.

Technogenesis is a weekly TV program produced by Stevens Institute of Technology (Stevens), in cooperation with cn8, the Comcast Network. This week's program features a look into the threat of computer hackers and electronic terrorism to our homeland security, and what the government and business community are doing to make our computer networks safer.

The Technogenesis program, "Cyber Security - Guarding Your Business in the Post 9-11 Reality" airs at 7:00 p.m., on cn8, the Comcast Network, each of the following Sundays in New Jersey and parts of neighboring states, including the Philadelphia and Baltimore regions: November 24, December 8, and December 22. The program will also appear at various times throughout the week on the local Comcast outlets in Prince William and Fairfax counties, Va., as well as Prince George's County, Md. Hosted by Stevens President Dr. Harold J. Raveche and veteran TV journalist Steve Taylor, each program includes special guests from the areas of science, technology, government, education, business or industry.

Dr. Amoroso leads the corporate-wide global network security protection initiatives for AT&T. Dr. Amoroso manages several hundred security specialists, engineers, operators, analysts, and developers charged with building security services for AT&T and its clients. His team provides active military-style protection for AT&T 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Yalkin Demirkaya has fifteen years of law enforcement experience as a detective as well as a detective squad commander. He is the founder and commanding officer of the computer crimes investigation unit of one of the largest law enforcement organizations in the world. He is also the president of Digital Services Co., which specializes in providing a vast array of computer security related services to the business community ranging from security surveys to detection of insider threats.

Co-produced by Stevens and Comcast, the half-hour Technogenesis programs feature government, research and industry leaders discussing some of the most challenging real-world issues facing science and technology today.
