Lisa Marie Ditto, Martin Downs and Brooke Johnson of Stevens Institute of Technology were among a select group of New Jersey college students to have recently received a 2002 Construction Industry Advancement Program (CIAP) scholarship award.
"These students are truly the builders of tomorrow," said John Clearwater, CIAP's managing director. "The construction industry is pleased to help them see how the theory they learn in the classroom is used in actual construction situations. This experience provides them with valuable insight which assists them to advance their career goals."
The 2002 scholarships, which totaled nearly $75,000, were awarded to New Jersey civil engineering and construction technology undergraduates completing twelve weeks of construction industry employment. Applicants must complete a comprehensive field experience, which includes working closely with heavy and highway contractors, taking estimates, reviewing drawings, inspecting and testing completed work.
Students from New Jersey Institute of Technology, Rutgers University and Rowan University were also honored at the luncheon.

The scholarship program is open to New Jersey college juniors and seniors who participate in their school's construction education program. The Construction Industry Advancement Program of New Jersey is a non-profit trusteeship founded by the New Jersey Asphalt Pavement Association, Utility and Transportation Contractors Association of New Jersey, and the Associated General Contractors of New Jersey.
