Stevens Institute of Technology has announced the appointment of Dr. Audrey Curtis as director of the Telecommunications Management program in the Howe School of Technology Management. She will also hold the title of Executive in Residence at the Howe School.
Curtis comes to Stevens with 26 years of experience in R&D and executive leadership positions at both Bell Labs (Lucent) and AT&T Labs. As an executive with these two leading telecommunications firms, Curtis was active in the commercialization of new technologies and services. She served as a manager of cutting-edge communications and networking technologies, in addition to holding leadership positions in pursuit of key high-level strategic initiatives. Curtis also has experience in joint venture planning and has worked in the global joint venture between AT&T and British Telecommunications. For the last year and a half she has been the Chief Technology Officer for a communications start-up firm, and continues in a consulting role with the company. Curtis holds a doctorate from New York University in experimental psychology and a master's degree in Industrial Engineering/Operations Research from Polytechnic University (formerly Brooklyn Polytechnic).
The Stevens Telecommunications Management program offers a Master of Science in Telecommunications Management to first-level and middle managers with strong technology applications backgrounds, especially those who are being fast-tracked into positions of greater responsibility by their employers. The program also supports full-time students pursuing Master of Science degrees, doctorates and graduate certificates. There are approximately 350 students enrolled the program currently.
Corporations sponsoring students include Verizon, Intel, Lucent, AT&T, Avaya and many other enterprises supporting their communications management employees. Within the past year, Stevens has extended this master's program through its distance learning division to Verizon-supported students located around the United States.
