Raveche named to Cirrus Logic Inc. Board of Directors

Cirrus Logic Inc. (NASDAQ: CRUS) has appointed Dr. Harold J. Raveche, president of Stevens Institute of Technology, to its board of directors. President Raveche attended his first Cirrus Logic board meeting in late September.

"Through Dr. Raveche's leadership at Stevens, the Institute's unique educational environment - Technogenesis® - has spawned several businesses," said David D. French, president and chief executive officer of Cirrus Logic. "We welcome his insights from the worlds of both education and business."

Dr. Raveche's appointment brings the company's director total to eight board members. He fills the spot previously vacated by Dr. C. Gordon Bell of Microsoft Corporation.

Cirrus Logic is a premier supplier of high-performance analog and DSP [Digital Signal Processor] chip solutions for Internet entertainment electronics. Building on its global market share leadership in audio integrated circuits and its rich mixed-signal patent portfolio, the company targets high-volume audio, storage and communications applications.

Cirrus Logic sells its products under the Crystal®, MaverickT and 3CiT brands as well as its own name. Founded in 1984 in Silicon Valley, the company operates from headquarters in Austin, Texas, and major sites located in Fremont, Calif., and Broomfield, Colo., as well as offices in Europe, Japan and Asia.

Dr. Raveche leads Stevens in its strategic direction called Technogenesis®, which is "the educational frontier wherein students, faculty and industry jointly nurture new technologies from concept to realization."

Prior to becoming Stevens' president in 1988, he was the Dean of Science at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, responsible for its comprehensive, multimillion-dollar Science Initiatives Program. He was founding chief of the Thermophysics Division at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) in Washington, D.C. and worked there for 17 years in research and technology management positions.

A graduate of Hofstra University and the University of California at San Diego, Dr. Raveche has won numerous awards and honors, including Distinguished Scientist of the Year from the Maryland Academy of Sciences, the Equal Opportunity Award from the U.S. Department of Commerce, and the New Jersey Pride Award in Education.
