Stevens to host Hoboken’s mayoral inauguration of Peter Cammarano

Gov. Corzine, Sen. Menendez among the many invited to attend swearing-in ceremony

HOBOKEN , N.J. – A new chapter in Hudson County politics will begin next week at the Stevens Institute of Technology as Peter Cammarano takes the oath of office as the newly elected mayor of Hoboken.

Cammarano, who won a hard fought campaign that was decided with a runoff vote, will take the oath of office on Wednesday, July 1, in the Schaefer Center's Canavan Arena at 12 noon. A reception on campus will follow.

Cammarano was elected a Hoboken City Councilman-at-Large in 2005, and has successfully led the fight against eminent domain abuse and helped create open space throughout the mile-square city.

Since taking office, Cammarano helped save St. Mary’s Hospital from closing and sponsored rent control reform to curb litigation abuse. He previously worked as a law clerk for Superior Court Judge Kevin G. Callahan in Jersey City; and in 2006 Cammarano was the statewide legal coordinator for Bob Menendez’s Senate campaign.

Cammarano is a sponsor of the Mile Square Theater Company and serves on the St. Ann's Feast Committee. He is a member of the Hoboken Elks Lodge, and he has hosted fund raisers for Hoboken’s Public Library.

After graduating with honors from Boston University in 1999, Cammarano moved to Hoboken while attending Seton Hall Law School.

It was there that he met his wife, Marita Erbeck, who was born in Hoboken, the city where they’ve decided to raise their family. Erbeck’s grandfather was once Hoboken’s City Comptroller. The couple lives in Hoboken with their young daughter, Abigail.

New Jersey Governor and Hoboken resident Jon. S. Corzine is among the guests invited to witness a new era for Hoboken.
