HOBOKEN , N.J. – Stevens Institute of Technology has been named a Yellow Ribbon Program partner by the Department of Veterans Affairs, marking Stevens as the first participating research University in the state of New Jersey. This designation further emphasizes Stevens’ long-standing commitment to educating U.S. Military and Veterans, and to providing exceptional financial benefits to these men and women.
Applications from Veterans are already being received, and Stevens is looking forward to welcoming the first Yellow Ribbon Program students to campus this fall. These students will help Stevens carry on its tradition of educating top innovators, inventors, scientists and business leaders, legacy of educating enlisted and military officers, and dedication to our nation’s Veterans.
The Stevens Veterans Office (SVO) has been established as a resource for all Veterans who are interested in attending, or learning more, about Stevens. Dean Deborah Berkley has been appointed Director of the SVO, which is already hard at work establishing special academic and student development programs. “In addition to providing assistance with application, enrollment and financial processes, the office will offer academic advising, professional development guidance and psychological counseling,” says Donald Lombardi, Faculty Liaison to the SVO.
A provision of the Post-9/11 Veterans Educational Assistance Act of 2008, the Yellow Ribbon Program allows institutions of higher learning (degree granting institutions) in the United States to voluntarily enter into an agreement with Veterans Affairs (VA) to fund tuition expenses that exceed the highest public in-state undergraduate tuition rate. As a Yellow Ribbon School, Stevens is dedicated to providing the maximum financial coverage possible through the program. Stevens undergraduate and graduate programs offer myriad opportunities for qualified Veterans of all five branches of the U.S. Military.
