Richard S. Magee appointed an AAEE Trustee

Magee is a research professor and member of Stevens’ board of trustees

HOBOKEN , N.J. – Richard S. Magee, a member of Stevens Institute of Technology’s Board of Trustees, has been appointed by the ASME as its Sponsoring Organization Trustee to the Board of Trustees of the American Academy of Environmental Engineers, according to the Society’s Environmental Engineering Division. Magee’s three-year term will begin on January 1, 2009.

The academy was founded in 1956 for the principal purpose of serving the public by improving the practice of elevating the standards, and advancing public recognition of environmental engineering through a program of specialty certification of qualified engineers.

The duties of academy trustees include attending annual and special board meetings, serving on various committees, promoting academy activities, encouraging AAEE specialty certification, and reporting on activities for and on behalf of the academy. A trustee may serve up to two successive three-year terms.

Magee received his bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees in Mechanical Engineering at Stevens. He is a licensed professional engineer in New Jersey and board-certified environmental engineer with a specialty in hazardous waste. Magee is currently a Research Professor at Stevens, and a technical director for the New Jersey Corp. for Advanced Technology, a not-for-profit public/private partnership designed to develop, verify and commercialize emerging, innovative environmental and energy technologies. In addition, he maintains an active engineering consulting practice.

Magee is an ASME Fellow, and has served as vice chairman of the ASME Research Committee on Energy, Environment and Waste, and as chairman of the ASME Waste Incinerator Operator Certification Committee’s testing committee.
