Professor Prasad at AMNH, May 4: “Technology and the Globalization of India”

Stevens professor to explore topic during “Global India” program

HOBOKEN, N.J. — Professor Marehalli G. Prasad, a member of the Mechanical Engineering faculty at Stevens Institute of Technology, will give a joint talk on “Technology and the Globalization of India” as part of the Global India event, a feature of Asian American Heritage Day at the American Museum of Natural History, Central Park West at 86 th Street in New York City.

“ India has, throughout its long history, been influenced by foreign cultures from near and far,” said Prasad. “ India’s interpretations and adaptations of these cultural traces have, in turn, spread across the globe. India’s science and technology graduates are fanning out across the world, resulting in an historic exchange between India and the ‘global village.’”

Satya Sharma, Center of Excellence for Wireless and Information Technology, Stony Brook University, with join Professor Prasad to explain how education and technology have contributed to India's globalization. A question-and-answer session follows.

The talk will take place at the American Museum of Natural History, Sunday, May 4, 2:30–3:30 p.m., Linder Theater, first floor, and is free with Museum admission.
