CIESE conference: Encouraging Students towards STEM and IT Careers, April 1

Conference for guidance counselors aims to increase awareness about STEM and IT careers

HOBOKEN , N.J. – The Center for Innovation in Engineering and Science Education at Stevens Institute of Technology will host the one-day conference for guidance counselors, “ Encouraging Students towards STEM and IT Careers.” The April 1 conference will be held on the Stevens campus in Hoboken and is designed to increase awareness about opportunities in STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) and IT (information technology) fields.

The agenda will offer specific examples and strategies that illustrate pathways for all students, particularly women and underrepresented groups, to participate in the technical professions, as well as a big picture view of the economic imperative to produce more STEM and IT graduates. This conference is part of a major National Science Foundation grant that is impacting more than 2,600 students and more than 300 educators over three years.
