Chandramouli appointed to IEEE ComSoc Standards Board

Stevens Chair Professor joins board that oversees and manages all IEEE Communications Society international standards

HOBOKEN , N.J. ― Dr. Rajarathnam (“Mouli”) Chandramouli, an Associate Professor and Thomas Hattrick Chair of Information Systems at Stevens Institute of Technology, has been appointed to the IEEE Communications Society (ComSoc) Standards Board. The board oversees and manages all IEEE ComSoc international standards.

The ComSoc Standards Board is made up of a maximum of five representatives selected from nominations from the ComSoc Technical Committees. The principal task of the Standards Board is to encourage, nurture and guide ComSoc standards initiatives and the resulting Working Groups. The Standards Board proactively advances the visibility and influence of ComSoc standards activities. The Standards Board is responsible for maintaining and interpreting the content of the “IEEE Communications Society Policies and Procedures on Standards Development Activities” document. The Standards Board Director reports to the ComSoc Vice President-Technical Activities. The Standards Director is also responsible for maintaining relations with the IEEE Standards Board and its standing committees.

Bruno, Dean of Stevens’ Schaefer School of Engineering & Science. “It is great to know that a Stevens professor of Mouli’s outstanding expertise will be working with colleagues at the top of the profession to guide and advise the IEEE on technical communications standards that will be applied globally.”

Professor Chandramouli is the co-founder of the MSyNC Laboratory at Stevens, and he is an internationally recognized expert in the fields of cognitive radio networks and digital steganography/steganalysis. He serves as the Founding Chair of the IEEE COMSOC Technical Sub-committee on Cognitive Networks and also as a Management Board Member of IEEE SCC 41 that oversees the development of international standards for cognitive networks. Recently he co-founded with Stevens Professor K.P. Subbalakshmi and Dr. Helena S. Wisniewski, Stevens’ VP for University Enterprise Development, the Technogenesis® Company InStream Media LLC, which offers disruptive solutions for the future of embedded, non-invasive dynamic digital advertising, among other applications.
