Stevens to host major Athletics Weekend, Feb. 29-March 2

HOBOKEN, N.J. ― Coming up this weekend, Stevens Institute of Technology will host a number of important athletic events. In addition, Hoboken will be holding its annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade on Saturday. As such, the start times for several games have been adjusted. Fans and visiting teams are strongly encouraged to allow significant lead time for their arrival as traffic delays are expected.

The Empire 8 Women’s Basketball Championship will start on Friday at 6 p.m. when Stevens takes on St. John Fisher College . Ithaca College and Utica College will play at 8 p.m. Saturday’s championship game has been pushed back to a 4 p.m. start.

Also on Saturday, the women’s lacrosse team will host Utica at 10:30 a.m. The men’s lacrosse game against SUNY Cortland was originally set for 2 p.m. then moved up a half-hour to 1:30 p.m. The game will now be played at 1 p.m.

Men’s volleyball will also be in action on Saturday as the Ducks host Division I Harvard University at noon in the Canavan Arena. The action will conclude on Sunday when the baseball team plays a doubleheader against Skidmore College starting at noon .

Travel in and around Hoboken will be very difficult on Saturday due to the parade, which is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. Many city streets will be closed throughout the afternoon. Fans and teams that plan on arriving in Hoboken after noon should enter the city at the south end via Observer Highway (near the Holland Tunnel) then proceed to Sinatra Drive . Parking for team buses will be provided near the Babbio Center on the back side of campus. Fans should take Sinatra Drive then make a left onto Hudson Street . Spectators can enter campus by using the Ninth Street entrance and proceed to the Eight Street parking lot.
