Stevens Institute of Technology names AT&T'S Rick Roscitt to Board of Trustees

HOBOKEN, N.J. -- Rick Roscitt, president and CEO of AT&T Solutions, has been appointed to a three-year term as a member of the board of trustees of Stevens Institute of Technology, a leading applied science and engineering university.

"Mr. Roscitt brings very important perspective to the board, including that of the rapid global growth of e-business and the strategic use of technology in competitive business practices," said Stevens President Harold J. Raveche.

"I'm thrilled to be joining the board at Stevens, my alma mater and a school I admire very much," Roscitt said. "I am particularly interested in using my experience in the business world to help shape a curriculum that will produce undergraduates who are just as proficient and conversant in management as they are in technology. There is a strong and growing need for graduates of this type."

Roscitt’s focus on furthering networking education will be leveraged as he contributes to the development of the first e-business degree program at Stevens. He also is working with Ohio State University and other colleges to broaden the development of academic programs aimed at networking.

Roscitt, 47, is a 1972 graduate of Stevens with a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering. He joined AT&T immediately upon graduation and later earned an MBA degree from the Sloan School of Management at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Roscitt, a native of West New York, N.J., spent much of his early career at AT&T in a succession of network engineering positions of increasing responsibility. He later held a series of executive sales and marketing positions.

Roscitt, who is also an executive vice president of AT&T, was one of the founders of AT&T Solutions in February 1995. As it begins its fifth year, AT&T Solutions, a professional services subsidiary, is one of AT&T's fastest-growing units, with more than 1,000 clients, 7,000 employees and $7.5 billion in contracts for new long-term business signed in 1998.

AT&T Solutions, based in Florham Park, N.J., provides seamless solutions that maximize the competitive advantage of networking-based electronic commerce applications. It uses state-of-the-art tools to operate and manage voice, data, video and internet /intranet services, including local and wide area networks, PBXs, voice-processing systems and voice and data terminals.

Established in 1870, Stevens offers baccalaureate, master and doctoral degrees in engineering, science, computer science, management and technology management, as well as a baccalaureate in the humanities and liberal arts. The university has a total enrollment of more than 1,600 undergraduates and 2,100 graduate students.
