How Stevens Campus Police Serves the Community

The Stevens Campus Police Department is a 24/7/365 police department with full police powers. Officers are highly trained and experienced, responding to emergencies on and off campus. Our officers emphasize service and assistance over enforcement and participate in daily community caretaking, an ‘all-in’ philosophy where every officer engages in the community policing mission of the department every day.

The Stevens Campus Police Department maintains a very close relationship with the Hoboken Police Department and adjoining departments and leverages these strong ties to best serve our community to assist students and staff and conduct investigations when warranted, issuing crime bulletins on criminal activity in areas frequented by our students. Stevens adds another level of campus safety through security cameras located throughout campus.

Additionally, the department offers training to all undergraduate and graduate students that begins during orientation their first year, and to all faculty and staff that is done during the onboarding process and continues throughout the year. The training includes Active Shooter training, Campus Safety, Identity Theft & Scams, Internet Safety, NCAA Compliance Training, training tailored to Resident Assistants and other groups and more informal "fireside chats" with fraternities and sororities.

The Stevens Campus Police Department makes a true community effort, with the Offices of Student Life and Residence Life and trained Resident Assistants (RAs), to get to know students and form strong relationships and trust through year-round activities. The department leadership is also part of the Stevens Emergency Management Team, Risk and Safety Team and Stevens Threat and Risk Evaluation and Assessment Team (TREAT), all designed to provide safety and care for the Stevens community.
