Campus Accouncements

Stevens' Email and Cell Phone Alert System for all Students

Attention all Parents! The Stevens campus is your child's home away from home, and we strive for it to be a safe haven. Unfortunately, emergencies can arise. Therefore we have partnered with Codespear - a leading communication software platform - to provide e-mail and cell phone text message announcements of all community-wide emergencies.

Participation in this campus alert system enables one to receive timely and accurate information about all unexpected occurrences relating to Stevens. This includes announcements about a school closing or delayed opening, a major power outage or utility alert, and any dangerous conditions on or near campus.

Enrollment is voluntary, but we hope you would want to be informed and encourage your child to join. Go to www.stevens.edu/alerts.

Campus Housing Announcements

With the spring semester well underway be sure to mark you calendar that the residence halls close on May 12th. If your child plans to live on campus in fall 2008, don't forget to have him/her complete the housing selection application! It will be available online at http://www.stevens.edu/housing/rms/apply.html during the week of March 24th .

At Stevens is excited to offer, for the first time, a variety of Special Interest Housing for those students that want to live with other students with similar interests. They can then share these interests through dynamic interaction and programming to ultimately achieve a deeper level of understanding, appreciation, and learning.

Fall 2008 Special Interest Housing at Stevens will include:

  • S.Y.E. - Sophomore Year Experience - since we believe the sophomore year is the most pivotal phase of a student's academic career, we created a floor just for sophomores to provide all of the resources needed to stir up an extra bit of enthusiasm and encouragement about college life and studies. Various workshops and support programs are offered throughout the year.
  • D.A.N.C.E.S. - Developing Art aNd Creative Expressions at Stevens - designed to enhance the college experience outside the classroom, your child is invited to visit museums, attend theatrical performances, and venture on other outings with their R.A. This helps the student to gain a better understanding and appreciation for the arts, as well as different cultures.
  • W.R.C. - Lore-El / Womens Resource Center - increases your daughter's awareness of and sensitivity to issues facing women in a dynamic and supportive atmosphere on campus. She will also participate in various campus activities and Lore-El Center programming.

More information about Special Interest Housing, as well as the appropriate application is available at http://www.stevens.edu/housing/Undergraduate/S.I.H.html. The deadline to apply for S.I.H. was March 12th.

If you have questions about any of the above information or living on campus in general please email the Office of Residence Life at reslife@stevens.edu.
