GENERAL
Purpose
The following SHARPI provides information on the subject of PI eligibility as it relates to a sponsored project account. A fuller discussion on proposal submission and PI eligibility can be found in the Stevens' Institutional Policy 80.2 entitled "Research Proposal Submission."
Administration
The Office of Sponsored Research is responsible for maintenance and review of this Guideline.
INFORMATION
Reflecting the level of responsibility the Institute places in those individuals leading research projects, it is determined that the following individuals are authorized by SIT to be PIs or Co-PIs on sponsored projects:
- Tenure or Tenure-track faculty (professor, Associate Professor, Assistant Professor, and Instructor)
- Research faculty (research professor, research associate professor, and research assistant professor)
- Any other Stevens employee, provided they have written authorization from their department chair/director or Dean - these authorizations must include a commitment for all needed office and lab space, as well as equipment necessary to perform the research.
