Notification of Intent to Submit Proposal
Notification to OSR of your intent to submit a proposal well in advance of the deadline allows the staff to plan a course of action with you so that the administrative details associated with proposal preparation and review can go as smoothly as possible. The OSR staff can then thoroughly examine the program or solicitation announcement to guide you to resolution on key issues and prepare required documents. This process is particularly critical when a proposal is being submitted in response to a Response For Proposal (RFP)—where the award would be issued as a contract and not a grant—or when a subcontract proposal is going to another institution or organization—which in turn will submit the prime proposal to the sponsor. These types of proposals often contain extra requirements that must be addressed for the proposal to be complete and deemed responsive.
Presently the School of Engineering is piloting an electronic notification system that informs the Dean and OSR about a faculty member’s plans to submit a proposal. The goal ultimately is to implement this system on a campus-wide basis to ease communication and foster efficiencies in the handling of proposals both within the administration of each school and at OSR.
