Funding Opportunities
OSR makes available funding opportunities information in two ways.

The primary source is through an institutional license to the Community of Science (COS), a premier current database of thousands of announcements about grants, fellowships and other awards from a wide variety of sponsors—government, foundation, non-profit and select corporate. By registering in COS, investigators can set up customized weekly email funding alerts and searches based upon criteria you establish. You receive targeted information with significantly enhanced usefulness for identifying potential project funding.

[Note: COS also provides other helpful functions, such as an “expertise” database in which you can participate to describe your work. Several major federal agencies, including the NSF and NIH, use the COS expertise database to approach individuals about serving as peer reviewers. We encourage investigators to explore the full range of COS’s internet-based services available to you.]

OSR also sends out announcements to the Deans about special funding opportunities when there are sponsor limitations on the number of applications that the Institute may submit for a particular program. The Deans then work with the faculty of each school to identify interested investigators, who in turn submit pre-proposals to the Research Council as part of an applicant selection process. This process in described in more detail in Research Council Pre-Proposal Review & Applicant Selection.
