Faculty Support Center

Services

The mission of the Faculty Support Center (CFS) is to provide "out-front" assistance to the research community in the pre-award development and proposal preparation, support the faculty on large scale multidisciplinary programs, administer all faculty incentive and rewards academic and research initiatives developed by the Provost and liaison with the Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP) and other administrative offices on special projects.

 

Our services include:

  • Assistance in the pre-award stage of research project:
    • ensure electronic registrations and PINs are viable
    • assist in budget preparation and justification
    • secure sub-recipient documentation
    • identify cost-share commitments and secure sign-offs
    • provide liason with OSR on preparation and submission timelines
    • prepare Routing Forms and secure signatures
  • Assistance in the submission of pre-award packages to OSR for final review and submission to the interested parties (*)
    • maintain a liason with OSR to incorporate any needed corrections
    • assist PIs to ensure that all required documentation is submitted to OSR
  • Assistance in the enrollment of the research faculty in the Community of Science (COS) funding notification service
  • Assistance in the registration of the research faculty in FastLane, grants.gov, COEUS, DoD and all other electronic submission platforms
  • Identification and coordination of large multi-disciplinary research proposals (in collaboration with the OSR) and assistance in the preparation of the required documentation
  • Development and administration of tranning sessions in collaboration with OSR for the training and education of the research community, such as focused training for departmental administrative staff and orientation of new faculty
  • Administration of the  special programs launched by the Office of the Provost
  • Administrative support for faculty research and special research initiatives developed by the Office of the Provost
  • Development, analysis and record keeping of academic outputs, including research.

(*):  PLEASE BE ADVISED THAT THE FSC IS INVOLVED IN THE PRE-AWARD STAGE OF THE RESEARCH LIFE CYCLE ONLY.  IT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF OSP TO PROVIDE THE FINAL REVIEW TO ALL PROPOSAL PACKAGES AND TO SUBMIT THE DOCUMENTATION TO THE INTERESTED PARTIES ON BEHALF OF THE INSTITUTE
