FAQs
What
are MonsterTRAK and StevensTRAK?
MonsterTRAK is
an online “college-students & alumni-only” resource for
employment listings and career planning information. Any Stevens
student can register on, and utilize the features of, MonsterTRAK
at www.monstertrak.com. Contact the Office of Career Development
for your School Password.
StevensTRAK is
a web-based scheduling system for on-campus recruiting, accessed
through MonsterTRAK. Qualified students (ask the OCD for qualifications)
are eligible for StevensTRAK. Through StevensTRAK, you can
view detailed information about companies scheduled for on-campus
recruiting, submit your resume to those companies, and potentially
schedule interviews with their representatives.
How
do I upload my resume, cover letter, and transcript?
The
primary document you will need for StevensTRAK is your resume.
However, employers sometimes want additional information to
provide a more detailed picture of your skills and background,
and may ask for a cover letter and/or an unofficial transcript.
To upload these documents, log into MonsterTRAK and click
on “Resumes”:
Upload
your resume from MS Word. You can upload
up to 10 versions of your resume, a great feature to use when
you want to tailor resumes to different types of companies/job
opportunities.
You
may upload one cover letter at a time for
your profile. However, rather than a generic letter, the OCD
recommends sending an individualized letter to each company
that requests one. Click
here to view sample cover letters.
Copy
your transcript from your Stevens “Web for
Students” records and paste it into a Word document, OR print
out your transcript and use a scanner to save it as a .jpg
file. Either way, click on “Upload your Transcript (Unofficial)” and
follow the steps as you did with uploading your resume.
How
do I know if I meet a company’s qualifications?
Each
company designates minimum criteria candidates must meet in
order to submit their resumes and be considered for interviews.
These criteria may include degree level, academic major, overall
GPA, and authorization to work in the United States. StevensTRAK
records will show you that criteria, and allow you to search
through all companies in the database, or just the ones whose
basic qualifications you meet.
How
do companies pre-select their candidates?
Beyond
the minimum qualifications, recruiters choose (or “pre-select”)
candidates they believe best meet their hiring needs. Recruiters
select up to half of the total number of candidates they wish
to interview on campus. A typical on-campus recruiting schedule
consists of twelve thirty-minute interviews.
How
do I sign up for an interview?
Pre-selected
students are given the first opportunity to schedule their
interview timeslots. View the company’s
StevensTRAK record, and click the “Sign Up For This Interview” button.
You will be presented with a list of available timeslots for
their interview day. Consider your class schedule,
additional interviews, club meetings, and other commitments
when selecting a timeslot.
What
if some of the interview slots are not filled?
Occasionally,
some interview timeslots may be left unfilled after pre-selected
students have had ample time to sign up. When
this happens, any student who had met the company’s minimum
qualifications may sign up for one of those empty timeslots,
on a first come-first served basis. This is called
"open" in StevensTRAK.
What
if I need to change or cancel an interview?
It
is understandable that scheduling conflicts may occur, or
that you may change your mind about interviewing with a particular
company. In consideration of the recruiters and other potential
candidates, any schedule changes must be made no later than
two calendar days before the interview date.
To
change interview times, first remove yourself from your current
timeslot, then sign up for another timeslot.
To
remove yourself from a timeslot, log into StevensTRAK and
click on “Personal Dates / I have signed up for”. Access the
schedule where you wish to cancel the interview and click
on Remove.
What
are Information Sessions, and why are they mandatory?
Information
Sessions provide companies time to outline their products,
services, and career opportunities, as well as meet with students
informally a few days before their interviews. These sessions
are open to ALL students, and are a great way to meet company
representatives, even if you are not scheduled to interview
with their company. However, as recruiters look for candidates
who express an interest in and knowledge of their company,
students who are scheduled to interview with a company are
required to attend their Information Session. Detailed information
on the dates, times, and locations of Information Sessions
are provided in StevensTRAK, the Stute, and the OCD website.
Who
do I contact if I have further questions?
The
Office of Career Development is located on the 9th Floor of
the Howe Center, and is open Monday-Friday from 9am-5pm. Please
contact your
Advocate or any OCD staff member (x5166) with
questions.
