When I first began on-campus recruiting for ITT Industries, in Clifton
NJ, recommendation from The Employment Manager was to recruit locally
(day's commute) and specifically at a number of highly regarded
local schools. Along the way, other campuses have been visited
and on-line services have been utilized. ITT is a Defense contractor that employs approximately 1000 graduates
in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering,
Computer Science (Software Engineering), Physics and Math.
Now that I am the Manager of Employment, I recruit EXCLUSIVELY
at Stevens. After having experienced other Universities processes
coupled together with the quality of student found at Stevens,
I need look no further than Castle Point, Hoboken for all of
my current graduate needs. Stevens has a wonderful post graduate
program as well as an undergraduate program that meets all of
our needs and exceeds expectations in many instances. Stevens
University is flexible in their approach to education and now
offers two Masters degrees and four certificate curriculums off
site at ITT. ITT and Stevens have formed an enviable partnership
in bringing well-qualified and motivated individuals into the
workplace.

Vollmer Associates
has been hiring civil engineering co-op students from Stevens every
semester for a number of years.
Our engineers find
them to be very competent and responsible. Generally they bring
a strong work ethic and a positive attitude of "common sense engineering" to
the workplace. On the whole they are eager and willing to take
on whatever projects they are assigned to and they have the ability
to
do a wide variety of tasks. Stevens is also one of the major schools
we recruit at for entry level engineers. We find the new grads
bright, articulate and enthusiastic. We are particularly interested
in those
students who have gone through the co-op program, either with us
or another engineering firm, because they have a wealth of experience
that is difficult to get with just summer internships. Stevens students
are of the highest caliber and Vollmer looks forward to continuing
its relationship with the school and the students.
