Student Stephen Yanczura Working at Hamilton Sundstrand, Looking For a Future in Aerospace

4/18/2012

Stephen J. Yanczura is another participant of the Stevens Cooperative Education (Co-op) program who plans on earning a Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering and a Graduate Certificate in Space Systems Engineering upon graduation this May (2010).

Stephen’s involvement with the Co-op began freshman year after talking to a Resident Assistant (RA) in his freshman dormitory that was a huge proponent of the co-op program. The RA not only solidified Stephens desire to enter the co-op program, but also supplied the business card of a manager at Hamilton Sundstrand (the company with which he would end up staying for all of his co-ops).

Hamilton Sundstrand is a business unit of United Technologies Corporation (UTC) which specializes in Aeronautical, Industrial and Space products for both the US Government and private industry. Through his rotations with the company he worked at two different sites (Windsor Locks, CT and Houston, TX) and worked across different divisions of the business such as Mechanical Design, Project Engineering and Business Development.

In response to benefits achieved as a result of Co-op involvement, Stephen states that, “The co-op office helped me solidify my career goals by facilitating me freely exploring different sites and divisions of the company.”

With future goals of working for an Aerospace or Defense firm, Stephen’s experiences at the Co-op have dramatically enhanced his abilities and knowledge required for a successful future career.
