Stevens to Host Gianforte Family Recognition Event
The Stevens community will formally recognize Greg Gianforte ’83 and his wife, Susan, for their significant contribution toward Stevens’ future with a special on-campus reception on Friday, Oct. 19, 2012, open to all faculty, staff and students.
The Gianforte family recently made a record-setting $10 million gift to Stevens toward a state-of-the-art academic building which will support many of the initiatives of Stevens’ ten-year strategic plan, which calls for an increase in the size and academic profile of the student body, increases in research, and a $400 million investment over the next decade. The largest single gift from a living donor in university history, it will fund an academic building that will enable interdisciplinary research and provide necessary space for strategic growth.
Gianforte earned his B.E. in Electrical Engineering and M.S. in Computer Science from Stevens and has been an entrepreneur and innovator in the computer networking and software industries and customer experience market. In 2011, he sold RightNow Technologies – the cloud-based customer service and support solutions company he founded and led – to Oracle for more than $1 billion.
The Gianforte family recognition event is scheduled for 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the Babbio Atrium. The program will include remarks by Stevens President Nariman Farvardin, Board of Trustees Chairman Larry Babbio, Schaefer Dean Michael Bruno, and students.
