Renowned Business Authors Spoke at Stevens Institute of Technology’s 2012 Alumni Weekend
Alumni Christopher Frank and Paul Magnone Are Authors of Award-Winning Book, “Drinking From the Fire Hose”
Hoboken, N.J. – Stevens Institute of Technology is hosting Alumni Weekend 2012, entitled “True to the Red and Gray,” from June 1-3, 2012 on the Hoboken, N.J. campus.
This year’s event will feature a special lecture by Stevens alumni Christopher Frank ’89 and Paul Magnone ’88, authors of “Drinking from the Fire Hose: Making Smarter Decisions without Drowning in Information” (Portfolio, 2011).
Information is essential to making intelligent business decisions, but it often overwhelms us. In “Drinking from the Fire Hose” – a Publishers Weekly Top 10 Business and Economic Title for 2011 – Frank and Magnone teach professionals in any field or industry how to ask the right questions at the right time, exposing truly essential nuggets of information. Through real-life case studies from their work within start-ups to Fortune 50 companies, including Microsoft, IBM, and American Express, they show how to convert a “fire hose” of information into useful business insights.
Frank is a vice president of business-to-business and communications research at American Express, where he is responsible for advertising, brand, and business-to-business research. Magnone is a vice president of business development and alliances at Openet Telecom, a global telecommunications software and consulting firm, where he is responsible for executive leadership of Openet's global partner initiatives. Their lecture will take place at 9:30 a.m. in Babbio Center.
Alumni Weekend 2012 will especially celebrate the anniversaries of classes ending in 2’s and 7’s, with each class hosting a reunion on June 1, 2012. Other events during the weekend include an alumni breakfast, an alumni barbeque, academic and alumni panels, lectures from leading professionals, family and children’s activities, and an alumni dinner dance. Stevens President Nariman Farvardin will also be sharing updates on the strategic plan and his vision for Stevens in his “Address to Alumni.”
