L-3 Communications Class of 2012 Earn Masters' in Systems Engineering from Stevens

1/9/2013

On December 13, Stevens Institute of Technology and L-3 Communications recognized 16 students who have completed the requirements for their Master's of Engineering in Systems Engineering.

The graduation held in Greenville, TX marked the sixth annual graduation ceremony at L-3 Communications and brings the total number of graduates who have earned M.E. System Engineering degrees from Stevens since the inception of the program in 2005 to 77.

Graduates which hailed from both the Greenville and Waco locations of L-3 Communications were joined by their families and the atmosphere was quite festive.  Graduate and L-3 Systems Engineer Barrett Williams spoke on behalf of the graduating class.  His speech mixed both accolades for the program and Stevens with humorous anecdotes about the hard work and sacrifice it took for students to complete the rigorous coursework.

The L-3 Integrated Systems Group (L-3 IS) is recognized internationally as a systems integration organization specializing in the modernization and maintenance of aircraft of all sizes, and the study, design, development, and integration of special-mission systems for military and commercial applications.  Headquartered in Rockwall, Texas, L-3 IS has operations throughout the world.

The Stevens Systems Engineering Program continues to enjoy strong support from the L-3 leadership, in particular from Jim Gibson and Jeff Church, Vice Presidents of Engineering at Greenville and Waco respectively, and Keith Robinette, Senior Director, Reconnaissance and Surveillance Systems Engineering and the L-3 program champion.  Mr. Robinette was himself a graduate of the first L-3 cohort.

Dr. Pennotti, SSE Associate Dean for Academics, represented Stevens at the ceremony.  Dr. Pennotti states, “through L-3’s sponsorship, we are happy to announce the launch of an eighth cohort which will be starting in January of 2013 and we look forward to continuing to help L-3 meet their need for systems engineers in the years ahead.”

Previous graduates of the Stevens M.E. Systems Engineering program have gone on to leadership positions as Lead Engineers, Project Engineers, Directors, Senior Directors and Senior Managers within the company and L-3.
