Jennifer Bayuk of Stevens Institute of Technology Named One of CSO Magazine’s 2011 Compass Award Winners
Hot on the heels of publishing new book, Professor Bayuk recognized at CSO Perspectives Conference in early April
Hoboken, NJ – Jennifer Bayuk has been named a 2011 Compass Award Winner by CSO Magazine. She was presented the award at the CSO Perspectives Conference in Naples, Florida, held April 5 – 7, 2011.
The Compass Award, established in 2004, is a prestigious honor given to professionals in Security Leadership by a leading security industry magazine. This year's theme is 'Security That Drives Business.' Winners were chosen by CSO's editorial staff and decisions were based on nominees' career-long achievements in creating state-of-the-art security departments and programs.
According to CSO, Bayuk was selected for this honor based on “consistent industry leadership in development of strategy and metrics.” They cite the following as a highlight of her nomination: “Bayuk is the Director of the Systems Security Engineering program at Stevens. She is an Information Security management and Information Technology due diligence expert and is experienced in virtually every aspect of the Information Security. She has been a Wall Street CISO, a Big 4 Information Risk Management Consultant and Auditor, a Security Architect, a Manager of Information Systems Internal Audit, and a Bell Labs Security Software Engineer. Bayuk frequently publishes on IT governance, InfoSec, and audit topics, including 3 textbooks and 2 edited compilations on InfoSec Governance Issues. Bayuk has lectured for organizations that include ISACA, NIST, and CSI. Certifications CISSP, CISA, CISM, and CGEIT. She has Masters Degrees in Computer Science and Philosophy.”
In addition, Bayuk recently published her latest book, “Cyberforensics.” She says: “This book defines the term cyber-forensics. It introduces the reader to the field of cyber-forensics with a brief history of the field. It serves as an introduction to the uninitiated and a reference for the practicing professional.”
“The Stevens Systems Security Engineering Curriculum uses Cyberforensics as an experience accelerator,” Bayuk continues. “While other classes teach the methods, tools, and procedures of security systems engineering, the Systems Security Laboratory uses cybercrime scenarios in the context of systems operation to give systems security engineers insights into how different types of security mechanisms help and/or hinder systems mission.”
Bayuk was also just invited by the editor of COSE (Computers & Security) to serve on their Editorial Board. COSE is the second most cited of all computer security journals.
