Smartphone Sensing - The Next Big Thing
Senior Member of Technical Staff, AT&T Labs - Research
ABSTRACT: Smartphones and tablets are front and center in the current digital and mobile computing revolution. They are powerful computers, they'll replace our stationary pc in a 5 years time, but they are also incredibly versatile and capable sensing platforms. Motion sensing, localization, audio are just examples of sensing modalities that can be found on these mobile devices. In this talk I'll introduce the smartphone sensing paradigm and introduce a couple of projects (CenceMe and TapPrints) that show how to leverage smartphone's sensors to infer human activity and context at scale.
