Both members and non-members are always needed to volunteer their time and talents to serve as coaches, referees, instructors, fundraisers and committee members.      The Hoboken Soup Kitchen is located in the basement of the Saint John's Lutheran Church at 300 Bloomfield Street. The Soup Kitchen is open every night of the week and you can volunteer any night you wish by simply showing up at 6:30 p.m. CYAH has two nights where we have committed to filling the kitchen's volunteer needs: the first and fourth Tuesdays of every month. You will only be asked to help with kitchen duties such as food preparation, serving and cleaning.

Other Opportunities

Boys & Girls Club of America

Web Link:

http://www.bgca.org/

In every community, boys and girls are left to find their own recreation and companionship in the streets. An increasing number of children are at home with no adult care or supervision. Young people need to know that someone cares about them. Boys & Girls Clubs offer that and more. Club programs and services promote and enhance the development of boys and girls by instilling a sense of competence, usefulness, belonging and influence. Boys & Girls Clubs are a safe place to learn and grow -- all while having fun. It is truly The Positive Place For Kids.

Habitat For Humanity

Habitat for Humanity AmeriCorps members build homes and hope while learning new skills and earning educational awards. Applications are now available online.

Lunch Time Ministry

Web Link:

http://www.stmatthewtrinity.org/

We serve lunch Monday through Thursday 11:00 a.m. to 12:50 p.m. This ministry is so much more than serving a nutritious lunch. It is ministry in the truest sense of the word. A ministry that doesn't ask questions other than "how are you" or "how can I help."

How You Can Help

We are not funded by any outside source and rely and are blessed with the generosity of the parish family. Contributions are gladly accepted. Coffee, eggs, tuna, paper towels and cookies are used on a daily basis. These items are always welcome donations. Monetary gifts are used to purchase fresh
vegetables, milk, bread and sandwich meats - the other staples" of our program.

We have a dedicated group of volunteers, many who are not members of the parish, who give of their time one day a week to prepare sandwiches, serve soup and beverages and take the time to talk with our guests. Volunteering your time can be as flexible as one day per week or perhaps one day per month. Contact LuAnn Wilson, Parish Administrator, at stmatttrin@aol.com or 201-659-4499 for more information.
