| October 27, 2010 Searching the Deep Web Workshop Wednesday, October 27; 4-5pm; Peirce 218 The "deep web", also known as the invisible web, consists of content that you won't find through general internet searching. Search engines have difficulty indexing certain kinds of web pages (non web-based formats like PDF and dynamically-created pages, for example), but there are tools to help you find this "hidden" information. This workshop will introduce you to searchable databases and help you to understand why some pages are virtually invisible to search engines. |
