At 6:45 A.M. on a Saturday morning, most college students are asleep. But the brothers of Rho-Omega were up and moving; unloading hay bales, setting up booths and tables, and preparing Hoboken’s Pier A Park for its annual Harvest festival. Over 40 brothers and pledges volunteered at the event and together logged over 250 hours of community service.
Four Rho Omegas traveled north for the re-installation of the Alpha-Kappa Chapter at Cornell. Coinciding with the Cornell Homecoming Weekend, the brothers of Rho Omega enjoyed a weekend of celebration as they welcomed Alpha-Kappa back into the brotherhood. Eight brothers of Rho-Omega traveled across the Hudson to welcome the brothers of the newly installed Sigma-Epsilon chapter at Hunter College into the Kappa Sigma family. In all, four other Kappa Sigma chapters, as well as Worthy Grand Master Christian Nascimento, joined the brothers from Rho-Omega to install Sigma-Epsilon. After the installation of all thirty eight brothers, all of the Kappa Sigma members present, young and old, celebrated at the South Street Seaport. The brothers of Rho-Omega would like to congratulate Sigma Epsilon on a job well done, and wish you all the best in the future. We are glad to have a great group of brothers just across the river.
Rho-Omega brothers Thomas Tritt and Russell Simms led a group of over ninety freshmen through a review of material from their Chemistry I class. For nearly two hours, the brothers taught everything from the periodic table to stoichiometry. This event not only taught the freshmen chemistry, but that Kappa Sigma places a strong emphasis on academics in addition to social activity and volunteering.
