Yesterday, over 30 of our Brothers Volunteered at the Vendy Awards in Industry City, Brooklyn. Brothers were there from 8am to 8pm helping with the set-up, maintenance, and clean-up of the event. It was our 3rd consecutive year volunteering at the Vendy’s and we can’t wait for next year!
Kappa Sigma Brothers Drew Capone, Matthew Linden, and Joseph Pinckney decided to take an alternative vacation during their spring break in March, choosing to serve the community of the Guatemala City Garbage Dump rather than a week on the beach. Brother Capone served as the leader of a group from Hoboken Grace Community Church which organized the trip. During the week the Brothers had the chance to learn about poverty in the community, develop relationships with Potter’s House Association which has been serving in the community for 27 years, while also building a cinder block home for a family. The Brothers were deeply impacted by the poverty in the community, where 11,000 people make $2-$5 a day scavenging for recyclables and bits of refuse they can sell at the nearby garbage dump.
One Day Without is a fundraising event which we’ll be hosting on April 16, in which participants are asked to relinquish one act, item, or luxury for an entire day. An event is then held later on in the day to celebrate and thank everyone’s participation in the event. All proceeds of the fundraiser will go to the Fisher House Foundation benefiting military veterans and their families. Signups will be outside the dining hall from April 8 to the 16th. Special thanks to Hoboken Grace for their support.
Fresh off their record setting performances at the Empire 8 Championship meet; Dan Munt and Tyler Hessler were chosen to compete against the best swimmers in the country in an assortment of events at the NCAA Championship in Shenendenhoa, Texas on March 20th-23rd. Congrats to our brothers! May success attend your efforts.
Kappa Sigma Headquarters awarded the Rho-Omega Chapter a “House Blessing”, recognizing the chapter’s new residential establishment. The brothers are honored to receive this award, and will display it with pride in our Chapter Hall. AEKDB
Several Kappa Sigma brothers and pledges volunteered with Hoboken Grace Community Church and In Jesus Name Charities to organize over 3000 food items and organized 4 storage spaces of clothes, furniture, toys, and household items today. All the volunteers had a great experience and were happy to give back to the community!
Kappa Sigma has pledged in 21 men to the Gamma Pledge class on Bid Night. This accounts for the largest pledge class in our history. Congratulations to all!
