Windows XP Service Pack 3

The third service pack for Windows XP made some changes to the networking configuration. The 802.1x configuration now resembles Windows Vista's configuration.
Changes to 802.1x Wired
Service Pack 3 now requires the service 'Wired AutoConfig' to be enabled.
- Open Control Panel
- Double-Click on the Administrative Tools icon (If you cannot find the icon make sure you're viewing in classic mode, the link is on the left hand side.)
- Double-Click the Services icon
- Scroll down the list and double-click on the Wired AutoConfig service
- Click the Start button
