The Stevens Wireless Network consists of three wireless networks broadcast throughout campus, both indoors and outdoors. Stevens is currently running a g-network.
- Stevens - Faculty/Staff wireless network.
- Stevens Student - Student wireless network.
- Stevens Guest - Unencrypted guest network which requires https based authentication.
The two primary networks, Stevens and Stevens Student use 802.1x authentication which allows for easy and secure authentication. All that is required to connect to these networks is a machine that supports 802.1x authentication and a Campus Domain Account, there is no need to register your computer with us. Guests at Stevens
Stevens provides a wireless network for guests who visit the Stevens Campus. For information on how you can be registered to access the Stevens Guest Network, please visit Register Stevens Guest wireless account.
Desktops & Laptops
Campus Domain Accounts for Graduate StudentsGraduate students do not have Campus Domain Accounts created automatically and MUST REQUEST ONE. Only graduate students who are currently enrolled in a course are eligible for a campus domain account. |
Windows
- Windows XP Home must have Service Pack 2 installed to connect to the wireless network.
- Please refer to our Instructions for Wireless Configuration, and select the windows operating system you're running.
Mac OS X
The following devices are not officially supported by Information Technology. While we attempt to provide assistance and support for these devices to the best of our ability, we can not guarantee compatibility and support with our wireless networks. The following documentation is provided as a reference only.
- Recent updates to Leopard have created a flaw with the operating system that may prevent a computer from connecting to a 802.1x network. More information can be found on the Leopard 802.1x Incident Page.
- Please refer to our Instructions for Wireless Configuration, and select the Mac OS X version you're machine is running.
Linux
- For information about connecting to both wired and wireless via 802.1x as well as scripts that may assist you, please visit the Linux 802.1x tutorial.
Mobile Devices
The following devices are not officially supported by Information Technology. While we attempt to provide assistance and support for these devices to the best of our ability, we can not guarantee compatibility and support with our wireless networks. The following documentation is provided as a reference only.

Gaming Consoles

Playstation 3 (PS3)
- This device does not currently support 802.1x but is capable of logging on to the Stevens Guest network.
- Connect to the unencrypted network, Stevens Guest.
- Open the embedded web browser and browse to any website, e.g. www.google.com
- The browser should automatically be redirected to a page prompting for your Campus Domain credentials.
- Once authenticated, you will be able to browse the internet for 12 hours.
Nintendo Wii
- This device does not currently support 802.1x but is capable of logging on to the Stevens Guest network.
- Connect to the unencrypted network, Stevens Guest.
