Campus Network

The Stevens Network connects 48 buildings on the campus including all academic, administrative, dormitories and Greek houses via a fiber optic backbone. The LAN which has been steadily upgraded since its inception in the mid 1980’s now connects the academic buildings and some dorms at gigabit speeds, while the rest of the dorms and the Greek housing are serviced at 100Mb. Every student that resides on campus has a wired network port. The LAN connects to the outside world through two links, a 5Mb link to a consortium of other academic institutions in New Jersey called the NJEdge.Net and a 15Mb link to the Internet.
