USCIS PHOTO REQUIREMENTS


The Vermont Office of the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) is quite strict on the photographs submitted for the Employment Authorization Document (EAD cards). USCIS requires passport standard, full color frontal photographs with all applications that requires photos, including applications for optional practical training.

All photos must be just of the applicants. All copies must be identical. They may be no more than 30 days old.Please do not staple through any part of the photo(s). Enclose the photo(s) in a glassine or paper envelope.

passport-style photos must be two (2) inch by two (2) inch:
-> Frame subject with full face, front view, eyes open.
-> Make sure photo presents full head from top of hair to bottom of chin, height of head should measure one(1) inch to 1 3/8 inch(25 mm to 35 mm)
-> Center head within frame.
-> Make sure eye level is between 1 1/8 inch and 1 3/8 inch(28 mm and 35 mm) form bottom of photo.
-> Photograph subject against a plain white or off-white background.
-> Position sbuject and lighting so that there are no distracting shadows on the face or background.
-> Encourage subject to have a natural expression.
-> Include headpieces if worn daily for religious purposes; they should not obscure or cast shadows on the eyes or any other part of the face.
