Entry Guidelines

New Students

Students admitted to the Flex MBA program complete 16 courses consisting of a common business core [12 courses] plus concentration [4 courses]. The course schedule is such that students can begin taking courses in any semester – Fall, Spring and Summer. The courses comprising the Flex MBA concentrations are listed in the corresponding study plans and are summarized here.

MS Graduates

Applications are encouraged from MS graduates (alumni) from the Howe School who wish to complement their Master’s degree with an MBA degree. This is the Dual MS/MBA degree option which requires a minimum of 8 additional courses (24 credits) beyond the MS. The actual number of courses will depend on the  disciplines associated with the Master’s and desired MBA concentrations. Most combinations can be accommodated within 24-36 credits).

Please consult the entry guidelines for MS graduates wanting an MBA degree for information on determining the additional courses you need to take and constructing your study plan.

Current MS Students

Students who are currently in a Howe School Master’s program and wish to switch to the Flex MBA program can do so, but need to be aware of certain caveats. Since not all courses in the MS overlap with the courses comprising the MBA curriculum, or serve as suitable substitutes, it is important make the switch early in order to minimize the number of courses required. The actual number of courses required will depend on the courses taken in the MS at the time of the switch. Students who switch early may be able to transfer all of their courses to the MBA and complete the degree within the 48 credits. Those who switch late may find it more advantageous to complete the MS and then apply to the Flex MBA program. It will require a few more credits, but you will end up with a dual degree. Students who switch to the MBA must meet the MBA admission guidelines.

Please consult the entry guidelines for current MS graduates wanting to transfer to the MBA for information on determining the additional courses you need to take and constructing your study plan.

Current MBA Students wanting to graduate with a dual MS/MBA degree

Students currently pursuing the 48-credit MBA degree may wish to complement their MBA with a Howe School MS degree  - the same dual degree option mentioned above.  This option typically involves taking 4-8 additional courses (12-24 credits)  beyond the MBA, the exact number depending on the concentration mix.

Please consult entry guidelines for current MBA students wanting a dual MS/MBA degree for information on determining the additional courses you need to take and constructing your study plan.
