Stevens Project Management Forum

Over 90 people registered for the 2nd Annual Project Management Forum at Stevens on May 11, 2012. Besides presentations, the Forum included a panel discussion moderated by the Stevens Project Management Program Director Dominic Lepore.     Stevens Hosts Astronaut William Shepherd

    In his 30-year Navy career, Capt. Shepherd has been a program manager, systems engineer, Navy SEAL and astronaut. He flew three missions on the U.S. Space Shuttle and flew on the International Space Station (ISS). Additional information about his visit to Stevens is here.

    The St. Francis College Center of Excellence in Project Management and the Stevens Institute of Technology present the 2nd Annual Practical Project Management Research Forum. The theme of the Forum is “The Business Side of Project Leadership.” We are going beyond the basics of scope, schedule and budget management to discuss theories, concepts and methodologies that will maximize business value.

    The Forum will feature presentations by both project management researchers and project management practitioners. Researchers will present highly-relevant research findings in PM. Project management practitioners will discuss current trends in project management.

    Specific topics include Project Leadership for Healthcare IT Projects, Bridging the Gap Between Business and the PMO, and the soon-to-be-released Software Extension to the PMBOK.

    Featured speakers include:

    • Don Zack, Project Management Office Director, Broadridge Financial
    • Fred Payne, President – North America, International Centre for Complex Project Management
    • Richard Turner, Distinguished Service Professor, Stevens Institute of Technology

    • Thomas Lechler, Associate Professor, Stevens Institute of Technology

    There will also be a panel discussion with Judy Balaban, President of the PMI New Jersey Chapter and Henry Abel, President-Elect of the PMI NYC Chapter, and Brenda Horton, Vice President of PMI Westchester, moderated by Dominic Lepore, Program Director of Project Management for Stevens.

    The Forum is $50 for general admission, $25 for Stevens alumni and PMI members; it includes coffee, lunch and snacks. The Forum is free for current Stevens Howe School and SSE graduate students.

    PMI members earn 5 PDUs.
