According to McKinsey (a major consulting firm), there is a national shortage of over 150,000 people with deep analytical skills such as those provided by Stevens MS in BI&A program. The program will graduate its first students in 2013 so starting salaries are not yet available. However, interest in the program from potential employers has been very strong.
The first students to graduate from the program (in December, 2013) all have jobs; some May 2014 graduates are still in the interviewing process. (Some of our students have been hired to full-time positions before graduation and have switched from full-time to part-time status.)
Companies that have hired BI&A graduates to full-time positions include: Apple, Bank of America, Collaborative Consulting, Genesis Research , Jeffreys, LodeStar Software, Solutions, LLC, Microsoft,Morgan Stanley, Nomura, PriceWaterhouse Coopers, RUN Ads, RVM, San-Disk, TIAA-CREF and Verizon Wireless.
Salaries vary with the industry with the consulting, Internet and finance companies paying higher than companies in other industries. The average starting salary (exclusive of bonus) for students taking jobs in these industries is $93K, while the average overall starting salary of our students is $82K.
There are many opportunities for internships with the broad range companies that actively recruit on campus including those listed above. In addition, a number of students have obtained internships with companies on our BI&A Advisory Board.
