Coordinator Position Description

Campus Apartments
The Resident Coordinator (RC) is a live-in position
responsible for supervision of undergraduate and graduate students living
in off-campus Stevens Institute of Technology leased apartments in
Hoboken, New Jersey. The RC
plans and carries out the daily administration, advisory, programmatic,
counseling, facility reporting and disciplinary needs of the individual
areas. The position supports
the development of the individual resident within a mature context of
responsibility and personal motivation.
RCs will direct their primary attention to leadership of the area
and report to the Off-Campus Area Coordinator.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1.
Stevens Institute of Technology student preferred
2.
Residence Life or campus life experience preferred.
3.
Familiarity with Student Life and Residence Life philosophy desired.
4.
Ability to work independently and successfully manage a student
culture without on-site support or supervision is required.
5.
Strong communication skills, both written and oral.
6.
Understanding of and commitment to the mission and purpose of Stevens
and the Office of Residence Life.
7.
Ability to
interpret rules of the Office of Residence Life and the Housing Contract.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.
Coordinate and perform all administration details for the resident
students (including check-in and check-out of each student during their
occupancy)
2.
Develop and implement age and interest appropriate programs/activities
for residents (a minimum of two per semester).
3.
Schedule at least two area meetings per semester to update residents
and distribute appropriate information.
4.
Provide support to other Residence Life personnel as needed.
5.
Handle discipline relating to area specific issues.
6.
Coordinate facility issues and document appropriate concerns.
7.
Attend Residence Life staff training and meetings. (minimum once a
month RC meeting, and one on one meeting with Assistant Directors).
8.
Attend portions of Resident Assistant training (based on topics and
needs)
9.
Stay late/arrive early and cover breaks (Fall Recess, Thanksgiving,
Christmas, Intersession,
Spring Break and Easter).
10.
Perform semester room inspections.
11.
Maintain residency hours in apartment to accommodate resident needs.
(10 per week)
12.
Schedule 4 weekly hours in Office of Residence Life.
13.
Carry
cell phone and communicate via email, phone or one on one.
14. participate in a
weekly 'On Call' rotation schedule with other RCs
REMUNERATION:
Rent-free
room, utilities, internet access, local phone access and $300.00 Duck
