Area
Coordinator
The Area Coordinator (AC) is a live-in, full time staff
member in the Office of Residence Life.
The AC will plan, organize and direct community and student
development, staffing functions and administrative details.
The AC directly supervises our para-professional staff members
which includes both Resident Assistants (RA) and Resident Coordinators
(RC).
The AC receives direct supervision from the Assistant Directors
(AD) of Residence Life.
( Residence Life experience required)
Stevens is
located in Hoboken, New Jersey, overlooking the Hudson River and the
Manhattan skyline. The town
of Hoboken is conveniently located to New York via the PATH subway system
and NJ Transit. Access to NYC
is ideal.
Staffing
Functions
1.
Supervise Resident Assistants (RA) and Resident Coordinators (RC), including one-on-one
meetings, performance evaluations, etc.
2.
Contributes to and encourages the development of positive working
relationships between all residence life staff.
3.
Assists with selecting, training and in-service activities for the
paraprofessional staff.
4.
Facilitate Programming by overseeing RA/RC programming efforts
including approving ideas, allocating funds, and logging and tracking all
programs.
5.
Coordinate Fall & Spring training as well as ongoing personal
and professional development opportunities.
Administrative/Management
1.
Assist with facility operations and reporting.
2.
Implement specific goals and objectives that are consistent with
those of Residence Life.
3.
Assists in administrative procedures for the Office of Residence
Life (i.e. room selection,
opening/closing the halls, etc.)
4.
Provides on-call duty coverage and responds to emergencies
weekdays, weekends, holidays.
5.
Maintains office hours; responds to written and oral communication;
attends staff meetings.
6.
Advise and serve on assigned residence life committees as well as
support and contribute to all
committee functions.
7.
Other Duties as assigned by Assistant Director.
Student/Community
Development
1.
Assists in the management of student behavior through minor
judicial sanctioning or advising.
2.
Assists staff and residents in establishing a positive atmosphere
and encouraging behavior that ensures relative freedom, quiet, privacy,
security and a sense of unity in the residence halls.
3.
Coordinates and supports hall/area/community efforts to provide
programs.
4. Works closely with
residents living in the off campus apartments
