The E-Board has been discussing a few ideas for events, including Krav Maga (Israeli martial arts) Instruction, a Hillel mixer with a few other colleges, and a Manischewitz Party.  If you want to help develop this programs or have other programming ideas, please contact the E-Board!

"Religion and Sexuality" Forum

Hosted by the College of Arts and Letters, the panel will consist of theologians from different faiths who will speak from  the perspectives of their various religious views on human sexuality.

The discussion will include topics such as religious views of homosexuality and issues related to sexual identity such as “transgendering.” The panel members include Rabbi Robert Scheinberg of the United Synagogue of Hoboken, (Jewish perspectives); the Reverend Robert Kennedy, Professor of Theology at St. Peter’s College (Roman Catholic and Zen Buddhist perspectives); the Reverend Geoffrey Curtiss of All Saints Episcopal Church, Hoboken (Episcopal perspectives); Professor MG Prasad of Stevens Institute of Technology (Hindu perspectives); and Imam Bekir Aksoy (Muslim perspectives) . Professor Susan Schept of the College of Arts and Letter will moderate.  This event is free and open to the public.  Kidde Building Auditorium (K228).

Jewish Harlem Walking Tour

Harlem was once the third largest Jewish community in the world.  Marvel at Harlem's grand synagogues, splendid row houses, and Parisian-style apartments.  Sites viewed include The Ethiopian Hebrew Synagogue - The Commandment Keepers, Temple Israel (now Mt. Olivet Church), the synagogue of Cantor Yossele Rosenblatt, and the homes of Richard Rogers and Gertrude Berg.  Meeting Place: the Northeast corner of Adam Clayton Powell Blvd. and 125th Street, in front of the statue of Adam Clayton Powell.  Adults: $20; seniors and students: $18. Save $2 by pre-registering. The tour is approximately 2.5 to 3 hours of easy walking and few steps.
