Problem:  Using Open Location from the Dorms

Scientific Notebook uses Internet Explorer to process web content,  this includes the translation of hyperlinks that are present within the Webcalc Documents.

To set Internet Explorer, and to set Scientific Notebook up for use with the proxies and WebCalC,  you must do the following:

Click the Start button.
Move your mouse to Settings.
Move your mouse and click on Control Panel.
Double click on Internet Options.
Click on the Connections tab.
Click on LAN Settings...
Uncheck the boxes next to:
Automatically detect settings
Use automatic configuration script
Bypass proxy server for local addresses
Check the box next to: Use a proxy server
Type:
for Address: proxy3.cc.stevens-tech.edu
for Port:  80
Click Advanced
Uncheck the box next to: Use the same proxy server for all protocols
Change the Proxy address to use box for Socks:  proxy1.stevens-tech.edu and its associated Port: 1080
Have nothing in the lower entry box (named Exceptions)
Hit OK
Hit OK
Hit OK
Close Control Panel
Run Scientific Notebook
Click File
Click Open Location
enter the correct address for Webcalc which is: http://golem.math.stevens-tech.edu/webcalc/mindex.tex

Problem: The WebCalc pages do not look right

Put the file webmath.cst in the folder C:\SciNotebook\Styles\article
This should make WebCalC open properly.

Problem:  You get a message about a missing dll file when you try to run SNB

You will have to download these files into your Windows/System directory (not the System 32 directory that is also under Windows if you have Windows 98). Hold down the shift key as you click to download  sh32w32.dll  and   sh33w32.dll .

More information about SNB can be obtained from the Help files that come with this program. You may also want to visit the SNB site at  scinotebook . Recently MacKichan Software, Inc. purchased the rights to SNB. Their web site  MacKichan also contains information about SNB.
