As a young NASA employee who began his career as a researcher and engineer at NASA's Langley Research Center, Dr. Camarda was rarely told what he couldn't do but rather challenged to reach for accomplishments barely exceeding his grasp. He was mentored by some of the most renown and prolific researchers in engineering mechanics and thermal structures in an environment which was psychologically safe and failure was tolerated. In fact, the culture of Langley back then was one of "permission to fail"; where failure was not only tolerated, it was expected/required. This environment/culture allowed innovation to flourish resulted in many of the breakthrough advances in technology attributable to NASA.
Dr. Camarda has lectured and taught courses on innovative conceptual engineering design and innovation to young NASA engineers, graduate, undergraduate, and high school students throughout the country focusing on very complex engineering design challenges.
This event is open to students, faculty, staff and the community.
