THE ENGINEERING CHALLENGE

The field of structural engineering is taking on the new challenges present in the use of new materials and advanced analysis and design methods for the design, rehabilitation, and monitoring of infrastructure and for the mitigation of natural and man-made hazards.  Advanced computational mechanics, multi-scale modeling, probabilistic mechanics, and knowledge of the effects of static and dynamic loading on structures and structural components are being employed towards the development of sustainable, safe construction.
