Message from the Scholarship Chairman

For many of us, scholarship assistance was the only means whereby we could attend Stevens. This was particularly true in my case and for many of my classmates. Quite simply, that is why I am so passionate about growing alumni scholarship support.

As you read the stories here, I hope you will become excited about the quality of our scholarship students and that you will clearly see how \scholarship assistance is making their dreams a reality at Stevens. I urge all alumni to join with me to increase the scholarship support available to both today's and future Stevens students. Your scholarship contributions, both large and small, do make a difference.

Natalia Malantchouk
Senior, Class of 2008
Bachelor's Chemical Engineering
Master's Systems Engineering

Natalia Malantchouk

While in high school Natalia made the decision to study engineering. A school counselor recommended Stevens to Natalia, who at the time was also considering some other top institutions. She ultimately chose Stevens not only for the strong engineering programs and quality of education she would receive but also for financial reasons. "Stevens was able to provide a good financial aid package that the other, bigger schools such as Columbia and NYU were not able to offer." That aid package meant loans of $15,000 per year versus $40,000. Natilia's brother later chose to come to Stevens as well and is currently a junior majoring in Civil Engineering. Without the aid of her scholarship, Natalia recognizes that her parents may not have been able to afford to send both children to Stevens.

Michael Cardinale
Senior, Class of 2008
Bachelor's Mechanical Engineering
Master's Systems Engineering

Michael cardinale

Michael attributes his decision to attend Stevens to the scholarships he received. He knew the curriculum at Stevens was exceptionally challenging, and he was not sure if he would be able to succeed. Prior to making his final decision, Michael qualified for a merit-based scholarship. That scholarship helped him realize he had what it takes to achieve his goals. Furthermore, Michael later came to appreciate that the scholarship was helping him succeed in other ways. Without it, Michael would have had to seek a part-time job or possibly commute from home; instead, he was able to become an active participant in campus life.

Bachelor's Business and Technology
Master's Technology Commercialization

BriDget McNulty

When it came time for Bridget to choose a university, she narrowed her choice to two, Adelphi and Stevens. Her parents encouraged her to choose the school she most wanted to attend, and Bridget knew Stevens was where she wanted to go for its Business and Technololgy program. Adelphi, however, was offering a strong financial aid package that would help ease the financial burden on her parents. It was only after Stevens offered her partial scholarship aid that she felt she could attend Stevens, her first choice school.
