Robert Jueneman is Chief Scientist at SPYRUS, Inc., a company based in
San Jose, CA specializing in advanced hardware-based cryptographic smart cards, USB security devices, HSMs, PKI systems, and software for Government and Enterprise markets. As the chief security architect for SPYRUS's Cryptographic Modernization initiative, he has been involved in the architecture and design of their advanced cryptographic developments, which culminated in SPYRUS being the first company to implement the new elliptic curve cryptography-based "Suite B" algorithms in their hardware and software products, resulting in the first unclassified, commercial product to be approved for protecting tactical data at the SECRET level – the SPYRUS Hydra PC USB encryption drive.
Formerly with IBM, Satellite Business Systems, Computer Sciences Corp, GTE Laboratories, and Novell, Mr. Jueneman has over 40 years of experience in computer, network and communications security, and cryptography. He was instrumental in pioneering digital signature legislation, and advancing the technical standards for encryption and PKI. He has been involved with communications security ranging from telephony to cellular to high-speed satellite and fiber optics, and has consulted with agencies including the DoD, the FBI, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, the Department of Commerce, the Department of State, and several foreign governments.
